You may be already aware of this, but eating reef fish like red snapper can be a risky proposition due to ciguatera. This website has one of the better, more complete discussions of the issue, including a list of what fish to avoid and what locations are higher risk. It does say a small snapper from that part of the islands is probably safe to eat.
