I normally fly WestJet direct, but due to lack of air miles availability with WestJet I chose Delta with a stop in Atlanta.I will have 1 hour and 5 minutes between the two Delta flights. Can anyone tell me what procedures I will have to go through in Atlanta on arrival and how can I speed things up to ensure I don't miss my connection? I will have no luggage...just carry on. Thanks for any advice.

Since you will pre-clear customs and immigration at YYZ, you will only have to walk from your arrival gate to your departure gate in Atlanta.

Check to make sure you actually have to change planes.

ATL is a BIG airport, with multiple concourses, and DL is their largest airline. If you pre-clear US Immigration and Customs in YYZ then your flight could arrive at one of several different concourses. Likewise, your connecting flight could depart from one of several different concourses, but probably E or F. ATL has a good underground train system which connects the concourses. If your connecting flight is in a different concourse then just make sure that you take one going in the correct direction.

Thanks to the three of you for the info. I will check with Delta to see if I have to change airplanes.

Actually, it should be very easy to tell if you have to change planes. If you DON'T have to change planes, it is the same flight number and it is listed as a "one stop" on the itinerary. Otherwise, you will have to change planes.

The Atlanta airport is huge-walk fast or take that underground train system which I wish we had known about.

Pretty sure Delta from Tor to Atl to SXM will mean a plane change in Atlanta. The Tor flight is probably a Canadair flight, maybe a 717 - Atl to SXM will be a 737 / 757 depending on the flight chosen.

We've looked at those options to save money, but for our time slots the savings have not been much, not enough to entice us away from a non stop from Tor to SXM [less than $100 CDN per ticket]

The OP seemed to get a great price though, so it's always timing of when to buy!

Sounds like the flight we had last year. We arrived 10 minutes early, carry-on only, were the first off the plane, literally ran through the airport using the train to the next gate, we missed the connection. There were about 20 of us at the gate trying to get onto the plane, but the boarding gates were already closed and Delta would not open them for us. Like previous posters said the Atlanta airport is huge, so depending on your arrival gate and your departure gate, that may be a risk. I would go down the nite b/4.
