Hi folks,

I'm going to a show in September at the Fox Theater and staying at the Henry Ford hotel. Was wondering if there are any must stop restaurants/bars in that area? Specifically late lunch/early dinner, a night capper drink and maybe app, and then breakfast/brunch the next day.

If I'm not mistaken the Ford is out around Dearborn. Why not stay right downtown and just take the People Mover to the Fox at Grand Circus Park?? Many very good restaurants/bars right in the CBD. We usually stay at the Courtyard Marriott on Jefferson and have stayed at the Book Cadillac as well. IF you're concerned about being downtown...DON'T be as it's a very vibrant place thanks to all the enovation/investments. Lot's of new residential and people. enjoy!!

What are your must hit dinner/beer or cocktail/breakfast spots?

Courtyard's bar is pretty good early evening, we like Fishbone's for good Cajun food and bands, Hockeytown by the Fox is great for basic bar food and to watch sports, Andiamo's in the RenCen is a nice romantic dinner spot. DEFINITELY go to Lafayette Coney Island NOT American <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> for a great Detroit Coney Dog and a beer!!!

Enjoy the awesome architecture, walk into the Book Cadillac, the Whitney Building, and the Guardian for a great treat.

Looking like Fri we'll go straight to Lafayette Coney, then check in, grab a drink at the hotel, grab a drink at Hockeytown, go to the show, then hit Fishbone's for breakfast Saturday morning.

Never thought of Fishbone's serving breakfast.

When you get off the People Mover at Grand Circus Park DEFINITELY walk into the lobby at the Aloft hotel right there at that station just to see the amazing restoration of that beautiful old building!

Across the street from Fishbones is a great little bar called Shillelagh, great place to have a beer. Also in the same area is Pegasus Tavern, very good Greek food. I love their Saganaki, Opa!

Don't forget to go to Astoria Pastry Shop, across the street.

Ah dang, so many things in my tiny limited window. Does Astoria open early for a to go breakfasty treat for the road?

I'll definitely run down my plan by you guys for your blessings hah.

How was your Detroit trip?

Hi all,

Detroit was very rainy, the people were very nice (even as I rocked my Tribe hat), and the People Mover is awesome. We had a very short stay, arrived around 3:30 Friday and left 7:30am Saturday (had to make it home in time for college homecoming).

We went straight to Pizzapapolis and got a Chicago style sausage and green pepper with a pitcher of Oktoberfest from a Michigan brewery (forget which one sigh)...very good and stuffed.

Checked into the Courtyard Marriott on Jefferson and chilled for an hour, then had some $2 Labatt's at the hotel bar.

Hopped on the PeopleMover and got off at Grand Circus and walked to the Fox Theater and saw Brian Wilson perform.

Walked from the Fox to Lafayette Coney and torched the roof of my mouth on the first bite, but a damn good coney dog.

Took the mover back to the hotel and passed out.

Got up early and went to Fishbone's for breakfast, which was supposed to open at 6:30 yet all doors were locked??? What the heck! Wandered around Greektown a little and ended up getting pastries at Astoria and then hit the road.

All in all quick but fun!
