Hi all...in cleaning out my pantry I found a bottle of Passion Fruit that I bought at an Oriental store several years ago and I have no idea just what to do with it. It's like a syrup and if you want to make a drink you dilute it one part to six parts water. I don't want to do that and was wondering if anyone knew any recipes I can use it. It does say it contains sugar cane, passion fruit, citric acid and some flavorings.
Thanks,

Annie

You could add a bit to some oil/vinegar/S&P for a sweet maranade (steaks, ckn brst, etc).

You could add a bit to a basic white cake recipe for a twist or to a basic white frosting to top the basic white cake (I wouldn't do both together, either the cake or the frosting, both might be too much....).

A small bit poored over some fresh fruit might be interesting (for some reason I'm thinking banana's and strawberries cut up with a bit of the syrup, stir then serve, may be even over ice cream).

Have you tried it on pancakes or waffles yet? sub for maple. or IN the pancake mix.

The marinade sounds good and I'll have to give it a try. Also a topping for fresh fruit. Since I cook for one I really don't make cakes though the suggestion does sound interesting. Thanks!

Yeah... I'd use your suggestion of oil/vinegar/S&P... and use with shrimp! or over fried flounder or cod or similar fish... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

it just occured to me that my marinade recipe is really originally a salad dressing recipe so you could also use it on salads if you liked the taste but I mostly use it for marinade.
I like the shrimp idea too but I just love oil/garlic on shrimp so not sure I would have thought of it. =)

I agree... I usually do Garlic/Oil with shrimp also...they just go so well together...
But... I think this would go great over a nice white fish like cod or flounder or sole, etc...
Be good over a swordfish/tuna/shark steak too... IMO...
