Heading to Anegada first week of March for a couple of days. When visited last time, we took a tour with Teamwork Charters (awesome!). This time we want to explore the beaches on the north side. What are your recommendations for doing this? Booking an island tour? Renting scooters? Thanks Rent a jeep instead of scooters; save yourself medivac trip to Tortola. In a day you can check out Cow Wreck, Anegada Beach Club, Loblolly and Flash of Beauty. There are lots of other great spots to see long the North shore if you can find them. Jeep rentals: Dean Wheatley - dwjeep@hotmail.com or (284) 495-9677 Lauren Creque - jljeeprental@hotmail.com or (284) 441-0563 call or whatsapp

I will also chime in and say avoid the scooters. I have witnessed several bad road rashes. As for the Mokes, I may be wrong on this. But I thought they were not allowed on that stretch from Loblolly to ABC. Not correct? I have never used a Moke as Dean supplies a jeep with our rental. The ride from Loblolly to ABC is an adventure I have to do every trip to Anegada. It just feels like you have the whole island to yourself.

Scooters and sand result in more early vacation terminations than anything else I have noted in my years. Broken collarbones and broken wrists are not boat friendly! G Totally agree. Inexperience + sand +2nd passenger + sand/rocks/imperfect roads+ alcohol = Disaster Unfortunately broken collarbones/wrists are not the worst thing to happen. Several years ago, a charterer riding a scooter(I don't think alcohol or 2nd passenger a factor) but she fell, hit head> seizures>to hospital(Tortola) >>>flight to USA (Boston??). I believe she died. Much better to rent Moke or truck with benches(easy to drive around island at speeds less than 30mph). Enjoy Anegada and don't be a sad story on TTOL.

Be sure to stop by Tipsy at Cow Wreck and check out Anegada Ann's new bar! She stole my favorite Smuggler's beach bar chef from Tortola so the food is great too! I can't wait. We missed their opening day by one day. But the place is absolutely beautiful. She has posted some pics on IG since opening. Looks like a lot of fun.
Go Irish!!

Definitely. Going to Cow Wreck and seeing Ann is on the must do list. Ann has not been at Cow Wreck for nearly 2 years. "Tipsy" is her own new place, just up the beach from the old Cow Wreck. There is no business connection between the two.

Yes, Ann is the proprietor of the guest houses. She and Andrew still own the gift shop next to Cow Wreck. If you look at the Cow Wreck beach website it only shows information and photos of the guest cottages. Last month it was weird that someone tried to put up a barrier between the Cow Wreck bar and Ann's gift shop. I got the impression from Ann that the split wasn't totally amicable.

No it was not...we there just before they publicly split and there was a noticeable coldness between them, Hopefully time heals that.

That someone was Bell. She fenced off the gift shop, and would scream at anyone who tried to get through the fence. She also had the gift shop's power connection removed from the BVIEC mains. The gift shop is now running on a portable generator.

Nothing quite like a family fight in the BVI's! Who needs a soap opera? I have no clue as to why there was a falling out within the family (family businesses?), but it happens everywhere. On last visit, the fence that had been put up between CWB and Gift shop was "opened" up to allow access between the 2 places. I heard that Belle had put up the fence and recently opened it up. Hoping family able to heal, even while operating their separate businesses. (Have seen similar in USA).

Hey guys - will be looking to get to Anegada for a day for our up coming sailing trip and want to either rent a truck for 6 or a "Moke" - unfortunately don't know what a Moke is? Also what would be the cost of taking a taxi to and from Cow wreck for 6 vs renting a vehicle that could fit 6... TIA! If you only want to go to Cow Wreck, a taxi will be slightly less expensive than a truck that can carry 6. The down side of a taxi is that you only get one destination and are more or less stuck with a scheduled pick up. A vehicle gives you flexibility. By the way, if you are going to Cow Wreck, take a right at Ann's Cottages on the way in and go to Tipsy. A nicer place with better food and drinks, great service, and lower prices.

"The Feud" had been building for quite a while. Regardless, we will split our time with both on the next trip. Cow Wreck is still a beautiful spot and Tipsy's is a step up. I wish both well and hope that wounds are healed in short time.
We did see Walker when we stopped to see Ann. Walker hasn't changed a bit and nor should he. I was good to see him.
Go Irish!!

You can reach out to ARH through facebook. They were very responsive.
I would also ask for a gas moke. The electric ones suck.

Any idea if you can squeeze 3 small kids in the back of a moke? 2 mokes for a family of 5 seems like a stretch, for instance a golf cart for a family of 5 is no problem but Mokes seem more substantial than golf carts. Thanks for the intel!! I've seen 5 adults in a Moke. Pretty tight. But doable.
