Just got back yesterday <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cloud.gif" alt="" />

This time I went the STT/ferry routing instead of AA through SJU to EIS. Never again will I go through SJU! Flew Spirit Airlines from Tampa to STT. All flights departed and arrived EARLY! In all honesty, not the most comfortable seats in the world, but for a $250+ per ticket savings compared to AA my posterior can live with it.

As for the Ferry. Arrived in STT at 1:30 and took a cab to the ferry terminal. Trying to save some time, I took the 3:30 Smith’s ferry instead of waiting for the Roadtown Fast Ferry at 4:15. Big mistake. Both go to Roadtown, but Smith’s makes a short stop in West End. The Smith’s was not the cat, but the Marie Elise..or something like that. This “boat” was one old decrepit piece of pig iron. Needless to say it did not impress the first time visitors in my crew. In any event, Smith’s arrived in Roadtown only about 10 minutes before the Fast Ferry.

On the return trip I did take the new Fast Ferry. Very nice accommodations. Air conditioned with videos in the main passenger cabin, and a nice ride. It appears that it is not all that much faster than the old boats but years ahead in creature comforts.

Bottom line….. Unless 10 to 15 minutes earlier makes a major difference, take the Roadtown Fast Ferry. You won’t regret it!
