We were talking last week to one of our taxi drivers on the way to airport and I asked him about Colin, the sweet taxi driver that always remembered us. He drove mainly for Hodges Creek the last few years.
He told us that Colin passed away 6 months ago from an aneurism. So sad to hear that. His stories about his kids and island life always entertained us. Great guy!

So sorry to hear this. It's so nice to see familiar faces in the islands when we visit.

This makes me think of a story...

I'm always curious about what brings people to the islands. There's always a story. Last August we got picked up by a taxi driver in St. Thomas at the CYOA dock to take us to the BWEB. He was a tall/thin pale-skinned Slavic looking guy with what sounded to me like a Russian accent. So I thought to strike up a conversation. I said it sure seemed like he wasn't native to the Caribbean, and might I ask where he was from. He said "Caribbean!" I almost choked. Really? I said that was interesting, and he didn't look all that local, so I asked him again. This time he said "Puerto Rico" is a clear Russian accent.

So at that point I figured he's probably hiding out from the Russian Mob, and I better stop asking questions!

Yes, Colin was a good guy and a good driver. It was quite a shock when he passed.

Haha Twanger. Yes, better to leave that one alone!
Three years ago when we took the ferry and it pooped out on us 100 yards from the ferry dock in CA, there was a man that finally, after a very hot and long hour or two, came to our rescue with another ferry. He was excellent in towing us to the customs dock. Afterwards, we jumped in a cab to get to the airport and the same man was our taxi driver. Pretty funny, we half expected him to fly our plane too!!
