Mary and Dennis Carmedy--Bravo-- thank you for saving such an institution on Tortola.
Just had the most inspiration visit last night to the Sugar Mill Restaurant. Inspiration because I saw what hard work and determination can do to overcome ---
Two years ago to the day we experienced such a disaster of a evening at the restaurant at the Sugar Mill that I wrote a long, scathing report. I normally ignore the bad and write about the good but having enjoyed the past fabulous history with Jeff and Jinx I could not let this awful showing go unnoticed.

Well last night was the redemption of all redemptions. Michelin would be proud to rate the Sugar Mill. Exceptional food and presentation and the service was remarkable eventhough they were "slammed". Mary and Dennis (new owners) were very present as hosts and manager Sharon was "showing off" her well trained staff.. BRAVO.

Indeed..we echo everything you've said..those two have worked their a$$es off to turn the place around..importing five full containers of kitchen equipment, furnishings etc.Things were so bad when they took it over they didn't have enough plates to serve everyone or even a salad spinner in the kitchen..and, as you know, not enough correct wine glasses.Needless to say the terrific staff have everything they need and more and you see it on their faces daily. Dennis and Mary deserve an award..BRAVO indeed!

I'll second (third?) what's been said above. We dined there in November (at Mal's suggestion) and agreed it was a fantastic experience. Food was delicious and service was top, top notch! We've agreed that spending an extra night on Tortola pre or post charter is worth it just so we can return to the Sugar Mill

We went there in Oct. with Mal and was fantastic. Can't wait to go again in a few weeks.

Misty & I had a great lunch there w Mal & Candace a week after we left you guys at the ferry. 6 inches of rain and 50 mph winds be damned!
