Can anyone let me know if the Bavaria Restaurant menu is on line and where to locate it? Also, what their nightly specials are. Maybe the owner, Annette, can post. Thank you

I am not aware of the menu online but that doesn't mean it isn't but I could not find one when I quickly looked. If you like German food I do not think you will be disappointed. It is not for everyone but to have been on the island for something like 23 years, they have to be doing something right.

On Friday nights they have German BBQ night, with various German wurst grilled outdoors. They're served on a bun with either potato salad or sauerkraut for $7. Also happy hour prices on beers. I'm not sure of any other nightly specials.

If you look them up on Trip Advisor there is a picture of their menu under the pictures. If you sort by rank they are #137 or you can sort by name and they are on page 2

Agree with all of the other posts. Also there is usually a fun local crowd at the bar.

Our friends eat there on every visit. We joined them one night and really enjoyed the meal and as Pat said, the strudel was divine.

If it is this menu it is not the complete menu. This is just one page of a several page menu and probably not current prices.

As I stated earlier, IF you like that type of food you will be fine. A restaurant does not make in on SXM for 23+ years if they are not doing several things right.

Unfortunately we were disappointed with the strudel. It was very soggy, as if reheated in the microwave.

That is so sad, Maureen, because they are known for that dish. Last December John and I stopped in for dinner with dessert on our minds but sadly, by the time we finished our entrees we were too full for the strudel. Annette said we could feel free to stop in another night just for dessert and after drinks with friends one evening, that's exactly what we did. It was delicious and a meal in itself by the time it was served as strudel a la mode and with a dollop of whipped cream. I'm salivating just thinking of how good it was.....

Funny thing - we like the schnitzel, too, and that was the meal that made us 'too full' for dessert and caused us to return the second time for dessert only.

I hope if you do go back for the strudel you have a more positive experience the second time and enjoy it as much as Others of us do.

I found a couple of photos from our dinner at Bavaria. Not sure if the PhotoBucket links will work as I had problems last year with them. First photo is roast pork and second dish is the schnitzel which is huge. The piece in the photo is still half of an order.

Thanks so much for the pictures. I have to say that we don't think of Bavaria (not sure why) but your pictures have made us really want to give it a try. Hope they are not closed in Sept. If so will have to wait til Dec. Wish they had a website as we don't do Facebook and the link posted here didn't work for us.

We had never been until last year; I think it's because German food just seems to be too heavy for a tropical climate. After all, Germany isn't exactly tropical, lol. I've not had anything there other than their grilled wurst on Friday, but those, and the sides that came with them, were delicious. Friends went back and had the schnitzel, if I remember correctly, and said that was excellent too. Shoot, with enough cold beer, I can eat heavy food in warm weather.

I was there this year and it was a great place. Really fun. Love the owners and manager.....very warm and inviting. While I don't eat red meat I do eat chicken and the owner/chef made me Chicken Schnitzel. Really delish. The apple strudel was pretty darn good. We'll have to return!

That is exactly what my better half used to say. For 15 years would go by it and the comment was always too heavy of food for the tropics. Finally went and LOVED the food...now a annual visit at least a couple of times each trip. Love the stroganoff and roast pork. Everything we have tried has been very good. The cabbage and the spaeztle are the real deal. Food is always good. Go and enjoy!

I personally don't find it any heavier than Italian food and I rarely see many people saying that Italian food is too heavy to eat on island. That said, I didn't particularly like German food when I was in Germany and I've been twice to Bavaria restaurant in SXM and didn't care for it there either. So, if you like German food, give it a try. Any restaurant that has been on island as long as they have, has to be doing something right..

I guess it depends on what you get in an Italian restaurant. If you're ordering lasagna or fettuccine alfredo, then yes, that's heavy. On the other hand, a nice cioppino or a veal piccata is quite light. That's why I prefer Spiga to La Gondola (yes, I know it's closed), for example.

Since Germany is a much colder climate, the food is much more "stick to your ribs", as it should be.

As usual, it's why they make vanilla and chocolate.
