I received an email from Photobucket, have to pay out the nose or at the end of this month my upgraded account, which I've been paying for, is being converted back to a free account with no 3rd party sharing. That's a year sooner than previously communicated to me. Farewell Photobucket it's been nice and farewell to all my TTOL photos. I won't be continuing the current trip reports until I find a remedy...maybe a blog, dunno.

Sorry to hear that. When I walked away from Photobucket they flooded my inbox. Standby! I did find that you can link from the blog if you decide to head down that road. We will miss the stories and pictures, but totally understand. ![[Linked Image]](https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dMYFeUnRIZE/WeXfER6U3oI/AAAAAAAAEIQ/Oywf4Q5Hs0sa02y0-V_OdVcjcVfNV0cSwCLcBGAs/s1600/Lighthouse3.jpg)

Does anyone know a good site that hosts travel blogs and lets you upload pictures? I'm retiring next year and would like to start doing trip reports again, they just don't seem as interesting without the photos.

Sammy, A few years ago I switched to a blog format using google BlogSpot. Your pictures in the blog can be linked or inserted in a different site. We have been traveling more to Europe of late, and I have been using Slow Europe, but as TTOL followers leans toward SXM and BVI - Slow Europe is mostly Italy and France. Other European Countries play second fiddle, and the World Wide not very active. However it is a great interface, pictures can be upload directly from your desktop or to a photo repository. The participants are definitely from all over - Australia to Israel and all points in between. My heart is still here at TTOL, but trip reports and photo management can be tough and that is why I headed to blog.

Sammy I've always enjoyed your reports and yes the photos are key in my opinion. I am waiting for my daughter to return next month to help me set up a blog, she says it's very easy even for me! The little research I've done leans me towards wordpress for the blog, then finding a hosting site will be next...not sure about this part yet. One thing I wont miss about photobucket is the photo quality once the file is compressed, I think the blog will have crisper photos. Let the learning begin!

May the force be with you! I have tried twice to use WordPress and never cracked the code. So I fell back to google and their product - blogspot, which does not have all the features WordPress offers. Let me know if you daughter is giving classes. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />
There is a program (free) called Windows Live Writer that allows you to work offline and then upload. Makes it easy when traveling. Works for blogspot and wordpress.

Hi Tom!
I started a blogspot, and am trying to figure out how to insert the pictures here on TTOL.
Do you have any advice for a newbie? I'm trying to avoid just putting a link into a trip report, as I think bouncing between sites takes away from it. I'd like the pictures within the writing.
Thanks!

So I am assuming you already have your blog set up Go to the picture in your blog that you want to insert into TTOL. Right click on the picture and select "Open Link" You will see something like: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OKTSfgRPwBw/U5EqVTVkd6I/AAAAAAAABp4/RT5p-_uYj7I/s1600/lovelySTJ.jpgCopy that entire line In TTOL select under Instant TTOL Code [color:"blue"]Image[/color]When the window pops up hit Cntrl-V or paste the URL address you copied from your blog - Voil and that is all there is to it. ![[Linked Image]](http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OKTSfgRPwBw/U5EqVTVkd6I/AAAAAAAABp4/RT5p-_uYj7I/s1600/lovelySTJ.jpg) IMPORTANT - you still have to follow the TTOL Size restrictions, which I forget what they are. Something 1024x768 and 350 mbytes, but Carol or Eric will have to confirm. After you get more comfortable in blogspot there is a picture gadget. That is what I used for my daily TTOL picture post on my Cabo Time Daily Thread Good Luck - hope this helps
