I checked online with several companies and also went to a local travel office near Toronto. There are no flights from Toronto to SXM. Buffalo is the near airport in US side ,but I cannot see non-stop flights from it.
Does anyone know why there are no flights available to SXM from Canada?

Thanks
Alex

Maybe has to do with the lack of airport landing and take-off slots along with the fact that the two hotels most closely connected to the Canadian airlines are still closed? I think more airlines and/or flights are coming on weekly as situations there improve.

Is it feasible for you to find reasonable flights into JFK? There are non stops available on JB already depending on your dates and AA will possibly reinstate their n/s soon.

If you look on Westjet website, you'll see that they have direct flight sundays beginning April 29th...but it seems to be sold out along with the one on May 6th ! The next available one is May 13th !

JetBlue flies out of Buffalo around 5am, stops in NY, continues on to SXM. All in one day and returns as well. Aloft hotel does free parking for 1 month with a stay overnight.

I just look at Westjet and tried May 13, May 20, June 3, June 10 and June 17. There is nothing available. I think this year we are going to go to Dominican Republic. Too sad to see our favorite island devastated like this. Thank you all for your info.

We flew down on Delta from Toronto. Jet Blue form Buffalo is great going down but there is a 5 hour lay over coming home.

We were looking for non-stop flight since we don't want to spend too much time traveling. YYZ-SXM was perfect for us in the past. 5-6 hours flight and you're there.

Nonstop flights are sure nice, but 90% of the US (let alone Canada) can't get them, and they are even less available now. But to me, if my choice were to do a connecting flight (with reasonable connections, which is in itself a chore for many people to find reasonable connections these days!) and go to SXM, versus a nonstop to the Dominican, I would choose SXM 100 times out of 100!

We're flying out of Buffalo on Delta at 6:00 AM and arrive in SXM at about 1:15 PM with a change in Atlanta.

Having done both and having crappy and expensive air to SXM, I am with you 100%. I doubt I would ever go back to the DR, even if it were NS and free.

We are flying out May 6th YYZ - SXM direct on Westjet. I just looked and Westjet is flying Sunday until the fall. I am not sure why you are not able to book flights on Westjet but there are seats available after May 6 as this flight is sold out.

MIka - Exactly my comment - WestJet is flying Sundays - May 13 onward has seats

When you do book, you have to use the drop down menu on the fare choice, the 1st choice is Econo with restrictions and says no seats, but 2nd choice is Econo with added cost options and it has seats - ......
Or just phone WJ, but there are seats on May flights if that is what you want.

However the WJ cost is the highest ever to SXM

JohnandBev,
We booked our flights last July and paid about $700 return and I thought that was expensive. Westjet did have a Birthday sale last month and the SXM flights were lower but the prices are very high right now. The same flight we are on in May were around $1200.00 before it sold out. Crazy!

Call westjet. Good luck with flights. We went delta from Toronto through Atlanta in January. We also like direct but they needed us & we needed to be there to help.
You will be glad you went.

We are flying Delta on Saturday from Dtw which is a reasonable distance from Toronto. Stops in Atl but we arrive SXM fairly early. Just 2 more days till we’re back to our island “home”.

Thanks...Cathy

Well , our trip is perfect ...staying in Porto for 3 weeks ..weather is wonderful , traffic is a non issue ...Mullet beach is the best ...Orient was ok , parking up to the beach was nice ...almost no one there ....Emilio’s was wonderful , back for second time next week , Bar code lunch and dinner was good value - nice owners . Carrefour at the roundabout is well stocked and I would consider as the place to,shop . Porto complex was basically untouched compared to Ocean club which is a disaster , The French side is a nightmare ...Marigot , sandy ground need major clean up,and rebuild.
But as a seasoned visitor I am pleased what we have witnessed ..I thought the island would be in worse condition . The Dutch side is farther along and looks better ..
Sorry ..off to the pool ...later

Not Carol, but thank you for sharing. It sounds like a good time and for those of us who have months to wait, any news is good news but good news? That's awesome!! Hope the rest of your time goes just as well.

I’m kind of relieved to hear that the early WestJet flights are sold out. I booked WestJet flights for July 1st and as of a week ago, only about 25 seats were sold. I was getting nervous that flights would be cancelled.

I booked with Westjet on New Year's Eve for October/Novrmber as we were hearing then of high volume bookings to SXM.

We booked at Atrium. We just couldn't go to DR and leave our loving island.
Thank you for all your answers,
