Hello,

I need some advice from those who know the lay of the land (and sea).

Question 1: On Monday, March 18th I need to get my family of 4 from VG to JVD, and at the same time some friends of ours (ANOTHER family of 4) who are joining us need to go from Scrub Island to JVD. Should we be taking ferries/taxi's or is there a viable cost effective way to arrange a boat that would pick us all up and make that trip?

Question 2: On Thur, March 21st, this same group of 8 people fly out of EIS Tortola at 12:10 pm to San Juan. Given cost/convenience, how would you tackle this? Again, ferries and a cab ride?

Or with that large of a group, should we be considering our own boat?

Thank you in advance for your help!!

We know of only 1 company with a 32ish Center Console in tye BVI and they have been very un-responsive. So you are likely having to get a boat from St John or Thomas to pick your group up at VG, on to Scrub to pick up the other 4 and on to Jost. You are likely looking at about $700 to $800 including fuel and customs fee for Captain. However you could have that boat for most of the day if you wanted .. perhaps stopping somewhere for provisions or going snorkeling somewhere along the way, perhaps lunch along the way … Cooper Is.

Thanks for your note. Unfortunately, I'm not finding any options anywhere near that price. Foxy's told me $1600! Others are all over $1000.

Ferry to Tortola from VG. Shuttle from Scrub to Tortola. Cab to JVD Ferry West End. Ferry to Jost. Not terribly convenient but by far the cheapest. If you time it right the ones coming in the cab from Trellis after getting dropped off from Scrub could stop for you at the Road Town ferry dock on the way to WE.Not too hard really.

Sonic Charters out of St. Thomas are $700 plus fuel for the day. Call them to see if you can get a deal for say about 5 hours of taxi time. Certainly not as inexpensive as the ferries but a whole lot more convenient having them pick you up wherever you want at on VG and at the Scrub dock .. plus a lot more fun.

That's a haul from Stt..clearing in..onto VG and Scrub..not a deal I would make for that $ if that was my boat..IMHO.

Hi Jeff,

If you are on Virgin Gorda, then I would recommend chartering a boat from Bradley powerboats (https://www.virgingordapowerboatrentals.com/) they offer a full day charter on a 28ft boat and 30ft boat for about 500-600$ and if your not comfortable captaining it yourself you can get a captain for 650-750$. As for your friends on Scrub you can pick them up on the way to JVD and drop them off on the way home! Bradley Powerboats is based out of Leverick Bay, I have chartered from them before and it was a great experience. Let me know if you have any further questions, happy to help!

Cheers

Jeff,

You might want to check with Dive BVI in Spanish Town for
a boat ride to JVD
They offer custom dive trips and have a store on Scrub Island
so shouldn't be a problem picking up your friends
In the past, I know they've shuttled groups to other islands,
similar to your situation
Might be worth looking into

Mike
