Wednesday, June 26It was a lazy day at Divi. The weather was overcast much of the day although there was a little sun in the afternoon.

Late afternoon, we went to Chesterfield’s to board Lord Sheffield for the sunset cruise “D” won at a Divi party. It remained overcast for the entire sail and, toward the end, we enjoyed a downpour and I got sopping wet. The food was good on board: appetizers, BBQ chicken and ribs, dessert. Despite that, we stopped at Chesterfield’s after the sail for a snack.
Thursday, June 27Our time at Divi is winding down. Although the day was cloudy, it wasn’t raining so we headed back to Anse Marcel and again settled in front of Leroy’s Kfe. This time, “D” had the steak tartare, and I had a crab and guacamole salad. Both were very good. Hands down, this is my favorite beach on the island; it was very, very quiet at this beach today, which was most welcome. The water is delightful, and it’s just a serene location.

For dinner, we drove Kathy and Dave to Fusion as this was their last night on the island. This was my third visit there this trip; can you tell I like it? I had the crab cakes (which I forgot to take a picture of), but everyone had a taste; we all proclaimed them the best of this trip. I had their goat cheese salad for my entrée. Other entrees were steak, salmon, and shrimp. Everyone thought their dinners were delicious.

Back to Divi to start packing. This is always a sad time as I really love it here at Divi.
Friday, June 28Kathy wanted to spend a couple of hours in the sun before she and Dave departed for the airport, so I joined her at the Infinity Pool about 7:30 a.m. It was deserted, but the sun was out and no clouds; yippee!!
We said goodbye to Kathy and Dave and spent the day alternating between packing and lounging by the Infinity Pool.
This was “D”’s last night on the island so we went to Rare for dinner. We both opted for appetizers and then tapas for our entrees. The food was very good, and we loved the service and ambience. Another terrific meal.
Saturday, June 29Sigh. Time to leave Divi. “D” was on the first American flight out so I didn’t see her this morning. I stayed at Divi until the mandatory 11:00 a.m. check-out and then headed to The Horny Toad Guesthouse to check in. I dropped off my bags and then headed to the Marigot market as I needed to make an exchange at Les Tissues del Soleil.
Tropicana on the marina has been on my list for some time so I had lunch there. I thought it was OK but nothing outstanding. Heading back to the Horny Toad, I stopped at Blue Mall as I’d not been there before. Very little there; not impressed.
Horny Toad is a funky little place, but I like it. But OMG – the planes!! Talk about loud! And my room has an outdoor shower! There are cement blocks on one side, but anyone looking out their window at Las Arenas next door could easily see anyone in the shower. Fortunately there is a shower curtain which can be pulled to cover the cement blocks. I don’t think any of the other rooms are configured this way.

As I’m writing this, I’m sitting on my second-floor deck listening to the ocean. The sound is much more powerful than the water at Little Bay, and I’m enjoying something different. I decided to have dinner in tonight and finish off the leftover groceries I brought from Divi.
Sunday, June 30I was going to walk to Karakter for breakfast, but the skies were again very black and I didn’t want to get caught in a downpour. Winds were really whipping things like menus and umbrellas around. I ordered Portuguese Karakter, which was very tasty.

After I returned to The Horny Toad, the weather was even worse: heavy rain, wind, ever-changing clouds.

Around noon, however, everything seemed to blow away and it was a gorgeous afternoon for working on the tan.
For my next-to-last island dinner, I decided to return to FIG and was not disappointed. I had sautéed shrimp with three sauces: pesto, garlic butter, and black bean, which was my favorite. Very flavorful.

I leave the island on Tuesday so will do one more wrap-up report after I’m back home. This is the longest I’ve been on the island, and I’m ready to go home. Today I was able to pet one of the innkeeper’s cats; this is the first island cat I’ve been able to touch (Divi cats are feral and pretty stand-offish). It made me realize how much I’m missing my own felines at home.
