Just to reiterate this topic. I called Citibank Mastercard about my two AA Platinum cards. They no longer offer the rental car collision coverage but my Citibank Business AA card does up to 31 days. On the other hand the AA Barclays Bank AA Mastercard does up to 31 days. I always notify my issuing CC companies of my travel planes and inquired about the rental coverage.

I switched to a Chase Reserve. Yes it costs a lot. But you can get most if not all of the cost credited back. And they offer coverage as first not secondary. Plus the points can be used on almost all airlines or how ever you want to use them.

I have the Sapphire Reserve as well. Not only do you get the $300 travel credit back, but when you use the Chase travel sight, the points are worth 50% more, e.g you get $1500 worth of tickets, hotels etc. using only $1000 worth of points.

Looked at it. In the US, it looks like United, Southwest plus a handful or more of international airlines.

For hotels, Marriott, IHG, Hyatt.

Does anyone know of a card that allows AA, DL, UA and IHG?

Yes. With the Chase reserve. You book your tickets through them, and use points to pay. Any airline. Or you can transfer the points to many airlines directly. Same with the hotels. Amex points work the same as well. I ditched all airline/hotel branded cards years ago. The only benefit I see I airline branded cards is getting to “status” quicker.

USAA does not offer liability coverage for international travel per their website

I just checked my Citibank Executive AA Advantage card and it does not off rental car coverage anymore. They have also cancelled the emergency evacuation coverage they used to offer. I pay $450 a year and that includes an Admiral's Club membership. I am not sure it is worth it anymore.

Young lady, your graphic is about whether your USAA auto insurance policy covers rental car insurance and not about USAA credit cards covering rental car insurance.
The link to the correct page on USAA's website can be found below.

Good to know. But can “non military connection” get the card? Sounds like they are “primary” and not “secondary” like AMEX so that’s a good thing. Crazy how so many credit cards are changing this benefit. And I’m sorry, your first statement didn’t mention credit card or auto policy. I spent months researching home policies that cover liability with my agent and only found one. So I got excited thinking maybe there was another that was not as expensive as CHUBB.

Did either of your parents ever serve, or your spouse?

I have been a USAA member since 1974. First through my ex-military and then later as an ex-coastie myself. car, house, boat, snowmobile insurance. Banking and CC. Great company.

Many of the Credit Unions associated with Federal Government Agencies or with the Military are excellent establishments with some of the best member benefits available.

I hate to sound like a commercial BUT... The Chase Sapphire Reserve car gives many perks. Here are some... You get a 50% premium if you book travel using Chase Ultimate rewards. You get an annual $300 credit for travel expenses. This includes not only airlines, cruises and hotels, but tolls, parking fees and anything related to travel. You get travel insurance including emergency evacuation if necessary, lost or delayed baggage. You get $100 global entry credit every 5 years. And you get entrance to Priority lounges in many airports. You also get collision and damage insurance for rental cars and of course no foreign transaction fee. There are a few other things but those are the ones I can remember. The downside is that it costs $550/year. But if you add up all the perks it costs nothing. OK, I'm through with this commercial.

Exactly!!! Both my husband and I each have one and get back the 550 and then some. I also have the AMEX Platinum and always recoup the 550 and then some. Seems I fly Delta now more and have the lounges for Delta make travel almost enjoyable!!!!
