Well, just got back on 12/17 from our third wonderful trip to Tortola. What a great time we had. It started off very bad with aa flight# 655 to St Thomas on 12/8, we had a very scary takeoff which ended just as the nose of the plane was about to go up, the pilot slammed on brakes & we were immediatley surrounded by cops, firetrucks & we had to be towed to gate, luckily we were all put on next flight at 11:30am & we never thought we would make the last ferry to Tortola but thanks to Pamelah at Fort Recovery, Smith's Ferry picked us up at airport when we landed at 4:30pm & they held ferry for us, we finally left at 5:20pm. We are very thankful for the pilot stopping when he did, for Pamelah & for smith's ferry. But, the trip got extremely better after that. We enjoyed all the restaurants we ate at, Spagetti junction-our favorite every year & we love the new place, Brandywine- very exquisite but relaxing & delicious, North shore shell museum- lots of fun & good food, Myetts-also lots of fun, Elm beach bar- cooked mahi mahi fish that my husband caught while fishing with Tim & Sue Jones(they are excellent people to fish with),Pussers Landing- good meal a little overpriced & the rest were meals served right in our villa at Fort Recovery course by course. We really like Fort Recovery for many reasons, we love to explore during the day in our jeep & then we like to go home to our villa for a quiet relaxing night. Away from all the cruise ships, that is one thing we noticed that is different, it has been 5 years since we were there, we could not believe all the ships, one day there was 4 ships. It would not be bad but they are all over the mountain with their tour buses, scooters & bicycles, very dangerous, there is no room for them. We were shocked!!!! We enjoyed our favorite beaches several times, smugglers, josiahs & lambert. Weather was good enough for us, 87 instead of 27 (in Pa where we live). It did rain, but never for the whole day, got plenty of sunshine. But, the bugs were very very bad, had many bites, everyone did. But we can't express enough how much we loved our trip & we want to thank everyone on this site for all your help over the past months & we will keep on reading & hopefully the next 5 years will go quickly so we can return to our 2nd home. Oh, one more thing, just wanted to mention, I get seasick very easy, so I wanted to share with you all what I did to prevent it, I wear the pulsating watchband, take ginger relief pills & ginger altoids & I had no problem at all & we were stuck floating around for 1/2 hr in St Thomas in the pounding sun, there was no room at the dock for us, but I survived!!!! Have a great Holiday!!! One week ago we had shorts on, now it is snowing here!!!
Thanks again & sorry for mispellings, still a little braindead from travelling!!!
