We found out this week that our early December flights are changed. We had booked two different miles flights. We got hit with a double whammy: American has cut almost half the direct flights from Memphis to Miami, and they have cut BVI flights. Some days now have three flights to Tortola.

Fortunately we had booked the second set of flights last week. Oddly, the business class fare for one person was 42k points. When we tried to book two seats, it rose to 43.5k each. Being cheapskates, we booked me a seat, then went to book one for Ratman. The price rose to 65k miles! So he booked an economy seat. We were hoping the business seat price would drop and he could rebook, but it's actually gone up. With their credit card he gets more leg room and one checked bag.

I looked yesterday, and didn't see any 10k last minute miles seats; cheapest is now 19k. Southwest does have reasonable miles tickets to STT. So we're looking into chartering to Beef Island from there.

Same happened to us when I booked for February.

When do the fares become available?

Go to the aa site, look at the booking calander it will tell you how far in the future tickets can be bought, right now July 2027

If you run into schedule changes you can often turn them into better options (e.g. add a day or switch to a better connection). I recently had changes to Nov/Dec flights that allowed me to get better flights both to/from STT at no cost, not even a fare difference.

For the other question about when fares become available the airlines typically do 330 or 331 days out.
