Because this was our first time staying at Beachside Villa's and we adored it I felt it necessary to write a separate and rather lengthy report on the villa's. I hope my description does it justice and will try to post photos of it.
[color:"blue"]BEACHSIDE VILLA’S – What a wonderful place! Located on Simpson Bay beach each unit has oceanfront accommodations. We asked for the unit farthest from the pool for privacy and were accommodated with Villa 1 with neighbors only to the left of us. After all the reports of crime I thought I’d be more nervous about being on an end unit but we felt secure because each unit had several camera’s mounted which we were told was live feed to the owners homes who monitored the activities all the time as well as two shifts of security who patrolled the beach throughout the night.
The owners have thought of everything so there was little to nothing that the villas were without. Upon arrival we quickly checked in with the office and were given our key. There were several cans of complimentary beer, soda and bottles of water which welcomed our thirst upon arrival. Several new appliances were recently updated such as new toasters, pots and pans with lids and the older models were donated to a nursing home. Aside from the bedroom being air conditioned there are ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room, and small fans in both bathrooms. What a pleasure to have both bathrooms available for our use!
We were told that the entire villa’s are decorated and laid out the same. When you arrive through the front door it opens to an open atrium with a table/chairs and gas barbecue. Second bedroom which we did not rent was at the front of the unit with a bathroom next to it that we were able to use. Sliding glass door with separate sliding screens opens up to large living room decorated with lots of Caribbean style prints. There is a wicker couch and two chairs, one with an ottoman in the living room as well as a large wicker bureau for additional storage, and a wicker coffee table and two end tables with lamps. All the tabletops have glass on them. The villa has one TV and a DVD in the living room and the owners make a copy each week of the TV guide and leave it in the unit. There was more than enough variety of channels to watch.
Aside from the bedroom door there are large sliding glass doors throughout the villa that open to get fresh air and the breeze off the ocean. In addition to the doors there are sliding screen doors to keep any bugs out. When we were in the villa we keep all the screens open as well as the front door to get cross ventilation. In the evening we locked up the unit before going to sleep. It would have been very nice to shut the a/c off in the bedroom and open up the sliding glass doors but I did not feel that comfortable doing it. The ocean was only steps away so we could still hear the waves which were very tranquil.
The outdoor patio has two cushioned lounge chairs, plastic table and 4 plastic white chairs. A shower and bucket are there so you rinse before entering the villa when coming from the beach which is down a flight of about 7 steps. In front of each unit are 4 plastic lounge chairs. It was so nice having breakfast on the patio each morning and when returning home sitting on the patio looking at the ocean.
Sliding glass doors have locks and “Charlie” bars which we used in the evenings and when we left the villa for the day. The Master Bedroom was large with king size bed, large wicker bureau and two end tables with lamps. For privacy all the rooms had curtains with nice rope ties so you could leave them open or close. There is a small indoor hall from the master bathroom to the master bath and on either side are two large closets one of which had a safe and the other with a laundry basket, iron and ironing board. Master bath had a shower and tub and double vanity.
Aside from all the closet and drawer space there were several baskets through the villa to organize items you might leave on the table tops. The owners did not miss anything. Candles, citronella candles, bug spray, dish detergent, electric lighter, pots, pans, microwave, toaster and coffee maker were also on hand. At the opposite side of the units is a nice built in pool with lots of lounge chairs and a gazebo with upright chairs should you want shade.
The resort is behind the airport which gives a nice view of the planes landing and taking off. We were never bothered by the noise as flights did not arrive too early and those that did were small planes.
[color:"red"]WESTIN DAWN BEACH - this was our second stay at the Westin. I used SPG Point for the three night stay and we were extremely pleased that we were upgraded to an oceanfront one bedroom suite. The view was phoenomnal as well as the room itself. Very upscale with all the amenities of mini bar, two flat screen TVs, huge wrap around deck. I know there are not too many fans of this resort but for $10 a day which is what we paid as a resort fee I in all honestly can't complain about a thing. If anyone wants more details you can send me a PM and I'd be glad to elaborate if need be on other areas and amenities of the resort.
Party and restaurant information to follow at a later time.
Best regards,
Louise & David
