Requiring a health declaration card sounds nice in the esoteric, but since a high number of persons who have the disease are asymptomatic, not sure it's terribly useful. Even requiring a negative test is not terribly helpful, unless it was really close in time to the flight. And there is simply not enough testing capability, even now, to give everyone a test who wants one. Either way, in order for the island to survive financially, they will eventually have to open flights to Europe and the US and Canada.

Testing capability is greatly increasing; we have tripled ours here in NC in the past two weeks. If I wanted a test, I could easily get one. I can also get an antibody test if I want to.

It's definitely not the case here in Florida.

I suspect it is more available than many realize. I live in a very small town in south Georgia and our health department has drive by testing available for anyone. My brother and his wife did it two weeks ago (no symptons--just wanted to test) and it took less than 10 minutes.

We both took the blood anti-body test a couple of weeks ago, both of us came back negative (we had no symptoms, wife just happened to have a doctors appointment and the practice just started offering the test that day, so he said go have it done.)We are in upstate NY.

Carol...how true. My wife set up a test at one of the drive throghs set up in Delray Beach last week..She called on a Friday...and was told the twelve slots they had for the day were all filled. She was able to get an appointment of Monday. There had to be a staff there of at least fifty people....plus national guard telling people where to drive through. The day she was there, and tested, we were shocked to see how secure the area was.....how many teants there were....but.....then find out for the day again...they only were able to give 12 appointments for the day....because they didn't have enough test kits for more. Totally ridiculous to have that much staff......for such little return. How long would it take i wonder to test all of southern palm beach county....which has a population of over 2 million people....NOT including all the tourists that come down for season, etc. So much for if you want a test...you can get one....and for free.

That confuses me, because if you look at the Worldometer site, Florida has actually conducted more tests per million of population than we have in NC (assuming that data is accurate, and who really knows...). Maybe it's just the area where you live?

Could be, we're in the middle of nowhere. And probably most of those tests are being done in South Florida, which has been hit the worst, along with areas around Orlando, etc.
