We are able to get a 1 bedroom unit here. Any thoughts from anybody on the forum. Are the units nice, have a good view, etc.

Do you have to pay for parking or wifi?

Yes you can buy a parking pass for the week, and you pay for wifi, EdB can probably help with the specifics. Or you can park at the end of the strip in a very large well lite parking lot. But garages are most convenient.

Parking is $25/week and is located under La Terrasse. Wifi is $50 a week.

you will LOVE LaPLage...its our second home and has been for over twenty years. Always clean...right on the beach.....fantastic location.....and the friendliest staff on the island. parking is across the street.....and as stated...a acharge...and wi fi is not included...but worth it.

I can second those comments. We have stayed 3 times at La Plage and once at La Terrasse through exchanges. We loved it so much, we ended up becoming owners last year.

We just stayed at Royal islander La Plage several weeks ago and loved it. I will echo everyone's comments above...plus add it was clean and extremely well run. For location, you can't beat it.

We paid $30 to park for the week.

We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

We've been going every year since 1989. Missed only 2 years: after Hurricane Lenny and after Omar. We consider the place our second home and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Very clean, wonderful staff and a fun area. The only thing that may bother you is the noise from the airliners. But the big planes usually arrive and depart in the afternoons. Try it...I suspect you'll fall in love with the place just as we have.

I do have to correct myself. It is $30/week for parking. I paid $25 the first time I stayed there because we only had 6 nights and they offered to lower the parking charge, without me asking.

Can anyone that has stayed there on a RCI exchange tell me if there is any additional charges for the week other than parking or wifi? Is there a charge for cleaning or the gym? Has anyone used the gym before and is it okay for equipment? Hubby and I tend to use a gym daily so it is important to us.

I have done 3 RCI exchanges (2 at LaPlage and 1 at La Terrasse), but now I am an owner. Other than Parking, Wifi, and Timeshare tax, there are no additional charges. They do a mid-week cleaning at no charge.

We always go to Trattoria Italiana and Winnie's Chinese Restaurant every trip. Moulin Fou gets good reviews too, just have not been there yet.

Canadian.....we have owned at LaPlage for over twenty years. The Trattoria's name is Pizza Pasta. It is very good and reasonably priced Italian. Also, the biggest DON"T MISS is Le Moulen Fou. The best restaurant on the Dutch side!!! Fig is now open right across the street from LaPlage, and it also was very good. The chinese place that was talked about is gone. Bajatsu, is another great place to dine, right in Maho. The only two lousy places to dine in my opinion around Maho is the sports bar on the second floor across from the casino...i think it is called ascot, or something like that.... and on the first floor of the LaTerrace shops....the pizzeria, casual dining place is HORRIBLE. You will love LaPlage...the staff is wonderful, the place is always clean as a whistle...and the pool area and beach right there are great. (when the beach is there).
As already stated, parking and wifi are the only addons, and the typical timeshare tax of 50/week. I am not sure if that is only passed on to owners, or that exchanges in also get taxed.

Unless the Chinese place closed in the past 2 weeks than it is not gone.

Go Winnie's.

Be Happy! Simply because you deserve to be. 😁

I think you can still use the gym at the Sonesta, next door. They want a white wrist band or some such. Be careful though, as Sonesta has had an outbreak of Noro virus recently

I am pretty sure Winnie's is still open. I will know by Friday when I get there. And exchanges also have to pay the timeshare tax as well.

We may not even use the gym if the norovirus is still an issue. Terrible reviews of people becoming terribly Ill on Tripadvisor. Definitely don't want to take even a small chance. Must be horrible to get it in general but then for it to eat up my valuable SXM vacation time. Not good!!!
