This is a great thread. How refreshing to read 'real people stories,' the ones that really matter. People helping people or people being PEOPLE.

Just a short story from me, about nice people and friendly people on SXM. Two years ago we are on our annual cruise, and spend the day in Orient. It's time to leave and I'm behind Bikini waiting for the taxi driver. I'm standing with a group of taxi drivers and several of them begin a conversation with me. The typical questions, where are you from, first trip to SXM, etc. During the talk, they all tell me how much we all mean to their economy and how important we are to them and how we all (americans and SXM natives) should be friends. This wasn't a 'we want your money' talk, it was a sincere discussion of how they will go out of their way to make our trip a safe, happy and fun filled time. Several gave me cards and one opened a coconut and shared the fruit with me. Just all around nice people.
