We (US citizen) are heading to the BVI's again and are chartering a Cat. During our expedition around the BVI's we wanted to swing by Watermelon Cay. How much of a no no is this to swing over just to snorkel the cove?
I'm starting to read up about the (ROAM) app.Any idea what would be the $ to clear customs pp just to do the Watermelon?
Let me know your thoughts.

It's a big "no-no" to do this without the proper procedure. You will need to clear out of the BVI, clear into the USVI at Cruz Bay (possibly via ROAM), and then clear back into BVI. Not really worth it if your only intention is to do some snorkeling there.

If caught and it’s your first offense it’s not too bad. The fine is 5000.00. The boat will be towed or you will be directed to bring it to St Thomas where the charter company can retrieve it. You will also go on the CBP watch list and enjoy secondary inspections when ever you travel outside the US.

St John is the USVI. St Johns is Antigua...but if referring to a bay on St John,USVI it is correct to say St John's Watermellon,Cruz or whatever Bay..in the meantime..have a Margarita and chill..

George C1 answered it pretty clearly. George has been sailing the islands for years..and I'm lucky to have known him for a long time.. It really does seem foolish to risk it and a big hassle to do it legally. We do have plenty of lovely snorkel spots within the BVI..

Definately not worth doing it for Waterlemon Cay even if doing it the right way...we have found the snorkeling there to be hit or miss and you have so many good spots on BVI without the hassle.

Also appreciate someone new coming on the board and posting....

I would say the snorkeling at Waterlemon isn't remotely worth the risk this represents, and that's still an understatement.

There's also a St John's in Canada, but since this is a BVI forum I think we should all know what he's asking.

St John's Wood in London, early London home to Paul McCartney, Abbey Road Studios and Lord's cricket ground..I grew up down the road in the poor part of town! Great area..but lousy snorkelling!
