I know a couple of weeks ago there was a thread about hamburgers at Mark's place. I chimed in how much we enjoy going there every trip. Tonight was the night we went. I usually get the ribs, but tonight wasn't sure what i wanted, and ordered Mark's veal parmigiana. Now, I know that Mark's isn't known for Italian food, but....boy was I surprised!!!!! The veal parm was probably one of the BEST veal parms I have ever eaten!! Got it with spaghetti as a side....and it was totally fantastic!! and..the best thing besides it being so delicious....it was only 14 bucks!! My wife ordered Mahi Mahi, and she couldn't finish it! She also thoroughly enjoyed her meal. For those who have never been there...don't miss it again! Seems like everything that he puts out is the best. Truly a gem.

Thanks for posting! We need to return-it's been way too long, the last time we were at Mark's Place was when he was on the French side!

Glad you enjoyed Mark's. I mentioned the burger there. Honestly, I have never had anything there that was less than very good and the prices, service and quality are good also.

Is there a/c inside? Otherwise I'd imagine it must get pretty warm considering where it's situated.

I honestly don't know about a/c but we have never felt uncomfortable there. Many places on the island do not have a/c and people continue to enjoy meals at these places.

It is pretty heavily shaded inside by the foliage. We went there at 1pm once and it was not bad at all.

True, but they are generally along the lagoon or water, or a hill...where one might to expect to catch a breeze.

Always looking for a great cheeseburger.

Likewise, Leona. I don't recall if there's ac or not but we've gone to Marks Place for a Sunday lunch in the middle of the heat of the day and not been uncomfortably warm. I will also say there are a few places we enjoy that are air conditioned, but to the point where I NEEDED a sweater. Feast or famine?

I seem to always get what I think they call 'garlic chicken'. It's fettucine alfredo with chicken, a HUGE plate, always enough for at least two meals and delicious!

Is Mark's open for an evening dinner or just lunch? Would like to try it on our next visit in July. Have heard many great reviews. Thank you.

Dont understand why one would think it would be warmer at Mark's place than any other restaurant on the island. The biggest misconception about Mark's that it is IN the parking lot..this is not true...it is in a strip mall, with flooring, roof, fans, full kitchen, etc.

I don't think A/C would be beneficial at Mark's Place as it is all open so the air would just escape to the outside. There are several large ceiling fans throughout the entire restaurant which do a nice job in cooling it down inside. We have been there for lunch and dinner and have never been uncomfortable dining there.

It is near the Grand Marche on Bush Road at the opposite end of the parking lot.

We always do at least 2 nights at Marks every trip. Never had a bad meal there and could honestly say we had some of our best meals there. Heat has never been an issue. Love his fried whole snapper!!!

We have never felt uncomfortably warm at Mark's Place. It's really no different than most other non-a/c restaurants on SXM. Food, service, price makes it all worth it.

I get too warm a lot, but never at Mark's. I do usually go in the early evening.

We always enjoy Mark's so much so, that we brought friends there in Feb. Two of us had the chicken and mushrooms. Oh boy, was the chicken tough! It was the worst meal I ever had there. But everyone else's was great. I think I'll stick to my other choices there which I always enjoy. Actually they serve such big portions, you can take it home and have a whole meal the next day. Just not the chicken!

We go at least once a trip! in January I couldn't stray and went with the ribs which are always fantastic. My husband went with a special rack of lamb. It was to die for! Even better than the ribs if that is possible. I have never been too warm eating there in fact this january it was a bit breezy and I was thankful I had brought a long sleeve shirt with me.

tough chicken is just overcooked, don't discount one bad experience as the chicken will always be bad. Cooks make mistakes, it's not the "cut" of chicken.

I'm sure they would have replaced it if brought to their attention.

exactly, as a restaurateur I take offense to " I ate something once and will never order it again" attitude. I never want anyone to leave my restaurant unhappy. If we don't know you did not like something, how can we fix it.

Do you know if they have a kids menu? We will be on the island in a few weeks with our five year old. Trying to put a list of places together that are suitable for kids.

Sorry to say, I don't know if there is a specific children's menu but I'm thinking most likely, not. But not to worry, Mika, as Mark's is very child friendly. You will absolutely be able to find something for your five year old to enjoy. Over the years, when we traveled a lot with our grandchildren as little ones, if all else failed, even if not on the menu, most restaurants will happily fix a plate of pasta for the young ones.

Thanks.... I agree that a kids menu is not a must, but that it offers things that kids like to eat. I will put Mark's Place on the list. The ribs there look so good!!!

I am pretty sure they have a kid's menu there. I remember seeing something like it on the menu...but can't remember what they had..or pricing. Mark's is so reasonably priced, it wouldnt be cost prohibitive either way.

We went to Mark's yesterday for a late lunch. It was fabulous! We look forward to having the ribs every year. What a treat!! To answer a previous question. No A/C but plenty of breeze and ceiling fans. We were very comfortable even in the heat of the day.

An absolute must a Marks is their mussels. They usually only have them Thursday-Sunday. I can sit to have them every year. The Mussels and a salad is a huge meal. also the curry goat is very good

Tell them you want pasta instead of the french fries with the Mussels. Yum.

As a newbee, this means nothing to mean, more specifically, there are several Grand Marche, but I don't know any road names, thank you

This is why you should get an island map when you arrive. They are available at Shipwreck Shops near the airport in Simpson Bay. Get the oversized one... it has ALL road names and is outstanding. Created by Michal Kasprowski.

That is the Grand Marche by the roundabout, next to the Burger King, and across the street from Cost U Less. It is close to Phillipsburg.
