You don't taste the mayo at all. The purpose is to coat the bread somewhat. If you love a rich little bite of food, those ham and cheese guys are just amazing! Do make sure that you get a good ham and a good cheese, and make sure they are sliced very thin. I made it both times with Hawaiian rolls, but if you wanted to make it a tad less rich, you could use some other regular small rolls.
