Just returned home from a 10 day stay at Point Pirouette. This was our second time booking a villa through Jennifersvacationvillas.com. Cynthia and Jennifer who run the office are great, and everyone in the office was friendly, attentive and genuinely happy to see us. We arrived at the villa in the afternoon, and all was as we remembered it...private pool, beautiful view etc.. The next morning I went out to the patio for my coffee and heard workers next door. I checked it out and saw they were starting construction on a deck and boat slip, sawing, hammering etc.. I called Cynthia at the office on the island, and explained about the noise. Her first reaction was, we have to move you. She came over with keys in hand to show us other villas in the same complex. We wound up with a villa that rented for twice as much as our original one, no extra charge!!! Not only was it twice as big, but the best thing was they just wanted us to be happy and enjoy the week. What could have been a real problem turned out to be a great experience. They were charming.
The island looked green and lush. It seemed busy as usual. We were there during carnival so traffic was easy, not much work going on for three days.
Orient beach is much smaller, but still beautiful. Not a lot of beach space, especially close to Papagayo. This wasn't a problem, though.
The only problem is getting a chair. We paid our $75. for the week as we have every other year, which should get you 2 chairs and an umbrella each day for the week. Well, not this year. We got there the first day in the late morning and a good number of chairs were saved, or tied together with towels or Ram's Food World bags. The rest were occupied. So we had to wait and walk and watch until someone left for the day. I asked if this was sometheing new and was told we'd have to get there early in the morning (between 7 and 8 am) if we wanted to get a chair. I have no problem with the people staying at O.B. getting first pick. But they shouldn't oversell the rest of the chairs. It was a real pain so we checked out Cupecoy. It was great, bigger beach, good number of people sunbathing nude, beach bar and someone to set up chairs and umbrellas for the same price as O.B. It felt safe and it was nice to have some waves to play in. There was even someone there each day keeping an eye on the parking area. We've been there other years and not felt that safe. But what a nice change this year, it was great to see so many people using the beach.
All in all a great trip, already looking forward to next year.
