This is my trip report from 1/13-20/05. We traveled on Continental and the flights were great, we arrived early both ways. I've been going to St. Maarten since 1984, so you can see it's my favorite place.
Our first 2 days we spent at Beach Side Villas. Unfortunately, one in our party was sick for these two days but we couldn't have been in a better place. Irene, the manager and the owners, Yolanda and Tom, helped us tremendously. I'm writing this report mainly to thank them and share with others my feelings about this beautiful place called Beachside Villas.
I have stayed there several times and each time I love it more. It's on Simpson Bay Beach and backs up to the airport runway. In the parking lot is a deck overlooking the runway, which my grandson and nephew loved. They loved watching the large planes land & take off. The units are beautifully decorated with an atrium in the center and there right on the beach with a beautiful covered patio off the living room and master bedroom. There's also a pool. The grounds are beautifully cared for and the staff are all wonderful. Irene is so great, she was always there for us if we needed anything. I can't say enough about Beachside Villas. Everything is beautifully taken care of and Yolanda, is the best. I can't wait to return. It's my family's favorite place to stay.
The next 5 days we stayed at the Royal Islander. My sister owns a timeshare there and it was nice being in the Maho area. I think Royal Islander is one of the best Time Shares on the Island. It's so convenient to everything and the units are great as well as the grounds. Again, my grandson and nephew loved watching the planes.
I was surprised that traffic wasn't a problem. We tried to travel on off peak hours and took into consideration the bridge and cruise ship schedules, so we didn't have a problem. I got the schedules off the web before leaving. On that note, I’d also like to thank the members of Traveltalkonline for all the information which made my trip so much easier and enjoyable. I love reading this message board and hope the next time I go to St. Maarten I’ll be able to meet some of you in person. Front Street looks great with the brick road, palm trees, and boardwalk. I couldn't get over all the new restaurants along Simpson Bay. It was a wonderful trip but too, too short.
